Author Brad Parks at the FHRL Annual Meeting

What better than meeting a successful author of numerous thrillers to celebrate the thrilling 40th year of the Friends of Handley Regional Library!  Beginning as a group to save the Linden tree, the Friends have supported and promoted Handley Library as well as Clarke County and Bowman Libraries over these forty years. After a brief business meeting, this May 16th program will offer author Brad Parks to talk about his successful writing career and his newest book, Closer Than You Know, set in the Shenandoah Valley.
Brad Parks is the only author to have won the Shamus, Nero, and Lefty Awards, three of crime fiction’s most prestigious prizes. A former reporter with The Washington Post and The Star-Ledger (Newark) he lives in Virginia with his wife and two children. His latest domestic thriller, Closer Than You Know, stars a powerful protagonist who has to take on the child welfare system to get her child back and prove her innocence. This book is based on a true story from Newark, NJ.
A reception will follow the program. The Winchester Book Gallery will provide books for purchase and Mr. Parks will be available to sign them.me talking about writing and his most recent book -- based in Staunton, Virginia!
