Therapy Dogs and Service Dogs:  The Difference They Make

Ramon Selove is a professor of Anatomy and Physiology at Lord Fairfax Community College.  His partner Coriander is a disability service dog who helps Ramon accommodate his autism and diabetes.

Shellie Selove is a licensed psychotherapist in private practice in Stephens City.  Shellie’s therapy dog, Abby, works with Shellie’s clients in therapy sessions.  They also volunteer at the hospital.

In this talk, Shellie and Ramon will present some of the history of service dogs, the differences between service dogs and therapy dogs, and some advice on getting service dogs.  They will also share stories of their son, Nathan Selove and his trailblazing autism service dog, Sylvia.
